Our goal is to grow the community in a way that resonates with its residents. That’s why we work with local leaders throughout the entire process of each project. With in-house engineering and legal knowledge bases, we resolve problems with efficiency. By analyzing every building, we take note of how the facilities are actually used. This enables us to run our properties more efficiently, better suit the needs of our residents, and make each rented apartment feel like home. Gimbal Residential was the first company in Atlanta to design a smart apartment complex, reducing energy waste by 35%.

The Gimbal Group derives its name from an engineering mechanism. Gimbals are support structures in constant motion, maintaining uninterrupted balance, and like the machine, we are always moving forward to maintain well-balanced, upright investments.

We do things differently at The Gimbal Group, and that starts with our Managing Partner, Michael Garber. With degrees in engineering and law as well as experiences in cities across the world from New York City to Johannesburg, South Africa, Michael’s unconventional take on real estate has shaped our group.

We believe in maintaining the integrity of each unique neighborhood and that means acquiring irreplaceable, commercial assets and managing them with the highest level of service. The Avery

The Avery

Located in the heart of Old Fourth Ward, The Avery has a personality that truly captures the spirit of its neighborhood. This 30 unit apartment complex shines as an example of a “missing middle” housing option brought back to life. It was also the first apartment complex in Atlanta to be fully smart-enabled, allowing residents to control their home from anywhere in the world. From acquisition and restoration to lease up, we doubled our investors’ equity in only 14 months.

Bradley Flats

Just two blocks from the East Side trail of our city’s beloved beltline, this 28 unit apartment complex is a neighborhood gem. We restored this building to offer a boutique space. From the locally sourced murals on the walls to the door numbers to the custom-made beer trough and even the chairs in the courtyard, we intentionally designed this property with a focus on community. During our second year, we refinanced to a nearly full cash out.


112 Ormond Street

Reuse and upcycle are two of our favorite mottos, and this location is no exception. As a former grocery store, we’re currently restoring this space into a multi-tenant retail and office location called Neighborgoods. It’s a true gem in the historic Summerhill neighborhood of Atlanta.

Edgewood Mews

Located in one of our favorite Atlanta neighborhoods, The Edgewood Mews is a 13 unit complex that exudes Old Fourth Ward personality—from the massive mural across the outer walls to classic brick architecture. Plus, with top-notch management, it’s become one of the most sought after apartments in the area.
